Does the Board accept applications on a general basis?

  • The Board accepts applications only when a position is available and posted. The Board does not accept unsolicited applications.

How do I apply for Teaching opportunities at UGDSB?

Teaching opportunities with the Upper Grand District School Board require applicants to apply exclusively via Apply to Education portal and are free of charge to candidates.

Applicants can create a profile by visiting Upper Grand District School Board. If you require assistance, please contact Apply to Education’s Customer Support Team at 1-877-900-5627 or info@applytoeducation.com, Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 7:00 pm EST.

Additionally, applicants can set up the Job Alert feature on the Apply to Education website to receive notifications when UGDSB posts new teaching opportunities on Upper Grand District School Board Portal

Do I need an Ontario College of Teachers Certificate to be considered for teaching positions?

  • Yes, only qualified teachers will be considered for teaching positions.

I am a new graduate, but my paperwork has not been processed by the Ontario College of Teachers, can I apply for a teaching position?

  • If you are a new or a soon-to-be graduate who is awaiting your certificate, you will be considered for an interview. If successful, will be added to the list as an uncertified teacher and waitlisted for the roster until the certificate is received.

  • Please note, you should be in “Good Standing” with the Ontario College of Teachers by the time the position is to start.

Do I need to be on the Supply List before I can apply for a Long Term Occasional and Permanent Contract position?

  • You do not need to be on the Occasional Roster to apply for a Long-Term Occasional position or a Permanent Contract position. Adherence to local collective agreement language can affect the short-listing of applicants for certain positions.

How long are the positions posted?

  • Secondary Teaching positions are posted for five (5) business days and Elementary Teaching positions are posted for three (3) business days.

Is a Police Record Check required prior to applying for a teaching position?

  • Yes, once an individual has been hired for a position, we require a Criminal Records Check including a Vulnerable Sector Screening, conducted less than six (6) months prior to the commencement of employment.

Does the Upper Grand District School Board attend job fairs?

  • At this time, the Upper Grand District School Board does attend many job fairs throughout Ontario and in some other provinces.

Does the Upper Grand District School Board conduct “Pool Hiring”?

  • Typically, pool hiring has only been conducted for Elementary French teaching positions.

  • If the Board determines that they require to Pool Hire, this will be stated in the job posting.

I have been applying for positions and have not been contacted for an interview. What should I do?

  • If you have applied for teaching positions with UGDSB and have not received an interview, we encourage you to explore volunteering opportunities at your local schools. Volunteering allows you to not only contribute to the educational community but also offers valuable firsthand experience in the classroom, build relationships with educators, and showcase your passion for education.

How do I know the appropriate people received my resume?

  • Apply to Education will give you a confirmation that your resume has been sent. Once you have sent your resume through ATE, Principals have access.

Do Principals have access to view my resume if I do not apply to the positions available?

  • No, Principals can only see applications submitted specifically for the positions that they have posted.
